Human Resource Management Department

VISION

To provide a world-class personnel that will enhance the attainment of a Nigerian Society that guarantees equal access to Political, Social, Economic and Wealth creation opportunities for Women, Children, the Elderly, People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable groups.

 

MISSION

Ensuring the retirement of disciplined and well trained World-Class personnel in an effort to equip them with necessary skills to advance gender issues. The Human Resource Management is to provide cost –effective, standard and timely support services to all Departments and Units of the Ministry in terms of qualitative personnel, office accommodation and equipment, and other logistic needs.

 

STRUCTURE

The Department consists of two divisions which are headed by Deputy Directors who report to the Director and there are branches and Units manned by Asst. Directors, Chief Stores Officer and Chief Maintenance Officer. The Divisions, Branches and Units are as follows:-

  • Appointment, Promotion and Discipline

  • Training and Staff Welfare

  • Maintenance

  • Stores

  • Transport

  • Any other responsibilities assigned by the Permanent Secretary

The current total number of staff in ground in the Ministry stands at 521.

 

APPOINTMENT, PROMOTION AND DISCIPLINE DIVISION

APPOINTMENT

This section is responsible for fresh appointments and documentation of newly appointed/posted officers from the FCSC/OHCSF or those deployed through pools from other Ministries Departments and Agencies of the Public Service. In all, the total number of staff on ground in the Ministry stands at 521.

 

PROMOTION

The Promotion Section is the Secretariat both of the Junior and Senior Staff Committees.

 

DISCIPLINE

Discipline Section is in charge of processing matters relating to discipline of both Senior and Junior staff

 

REGISTRY

The Registry is the main custodian of all the files of the Ministry.

 

TRAINING AND STAFF WELFARE DIVISION

TRAINING: The Training Section is in charge of planning and execution of all training programmes of the Ministry. This is done in collaboration with the OHCSF, National Planning Commission and Foreign Donor Organisations.


STAFF WELFARE: 
The Staff Welfare Unit covers the following areas of activities:

  • Insurance

  • Pension

  • Labour/Union activities

  • Cleaning Services

  • Provision of Office Accommodation

  • Sports

  • Staff Housing Loans through the FGHL Board

  • Staff Identity Cards, etc

  • NHIS

  • Condolences and Repatriation Allowances.


TRANSPORT

The Transport Unit has a total of 24 vehicles made-up of 20 vehicles on road and four grounded vehicles.


REPRESENTATION ON BOARD’S OF DIRECTORS OF PARASTATALS

The Department represents the Ministry on four (4) Boards of Parastatals namely:-

  • National Hospital for Women and Children, Abuja

  • National Board for Technical Education, (NBTE) Kaduna

  • National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Abuja; and

  • National Universities Commission, NUC, Abuja.
